My roofspaces are floored with standard loft boards, with only 100mm insulation underneath. I want to up the insulation to 300mm. The boards have heating pipes running over the top of them so I can't lift the boards without a whole lot of hassle.
Can I lay insulation over the top of the boards, and then re-floor over the top of that (using stilts / new loft boards)? Would that provide the same level of insulation?
Insulation I've been looking at says things like "use a top-up layer" - would something that says that be suitable? (e.g. Knauf Earthwool Loft Roll 200mm).
Thanks!
