I read that our U.K. driving licences would no longer be valid in the EU after Brexit and that we would need an international driving licence. Is that still true?

Yet another tiresome erroneous claim that there are no negatives after brexit...

Why is that?

Oh that's right brexiteers can't come up with any 'benefits' !

But just to inform you...

Previously a UK citizen could stay in any EU/EEA country indefinitely, and their driving licence would be valid as long as it lasts in all those EU/EEA countries...

Now unless you get a visa you can only stay in the EU/EEA area for 3 months out of any 6 months which is on a rolling basis...

And we are also back to the old days whereby if you do manage to get a visa that allows you to stay longer than a year, your UK driving licence will no longer be valid from after a year of that visa being issued...

And you will then may be required to take a driving test in whatever EU/EEA country you happen to be in to continue driving...

But you will have to exchange your UK licence...

And you then won't be able to renew your UK licence!

Those are the facts, not the myths!

Do you see that as a 'brexit benefit'?

So, do we need an international driving permit to drive in the EU like you said we would?

You just don't get it do you...

For short term holiday no because a deal was done, unless your licence was issued in certain British regions...

However as usual you won't acknowledge the fact that holiday durations are now limited, and work/education not allowed without a visa and after a year your licence needs to be changed...

"If you move to an EU country or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland, you will not be able to renew your driving licence in the UK.
Consider exchanging your UK driving licence for a local licence as soon as possible in line with specific advice for your country of residence."

That's the government wording...

Given prior to brexit there was no limit on travel/work/education in the EU/EEA and not having to change your driving licence, are you still claiming that everything is still the same and no worse?

Yes or no ;)

You just don't get it do you...
You just can’t answer a question can you? I’m talking about the average British holidaymaker that might want to drive to Europe or hire a car if they fly there. Exclude those that want to spend more than 90 days in Europe - you didn’t mention that caveat when you said we'd all need IDP's for the EU.

PMSL...

Which bit of 'a deal was done', which happened after the original position reported do you not understand?

And do you really enjoy being shown up time and time again?

Did you mention 'average British holidaymaker' in your original post?

No!

Did I say that an international driving permit wasn't needed for a 'short term holiday'?

Yes I did!

So will you admit that...

'prior to brexit there was no limit on travel/work/education in the EU/EEA and not having to change your driving licence'

Yes or no?

Prior to Brexit, a simple exchange of licences was possible. No 'renew' test was required.

And are you still claiming that everything is still the same and no worse?
According to Mottie, the same as before is a Brexit benefit.

Struggling to find benefits so you're finding things that aren't as bad as they might have been.

This classed as a benefit too?

All you are doing mottie is digging a big hole

It is a fact that every topic that mottie posts trying to claim that things are the same as before brexit are either lies or ignorance mixed with a reluctance to admit the truth...

Nothing is the same simply because the UK is no longer in the single market, and freedom of movement of goods and people no longer exists...

There are no benefits and there never will be...

Only negatives!
