hi
got adsl broadband, modem connects to pc usb,wot do i need so another pc can share the internet connection
cheers :)

While you could probably do it using USB, the best way (IMOH) is to buy yourself an ADSL Modem/Router/Switch (all in 1), a couple of network adaptors (unless you have on board LAN), and a couple of patch cables. This will provide each PC with independent access to the Internet and full network capabilty. When choosing a Router, get one that has a firewall (SPI). The whole lot should cost less than £100.

Here's an example of kit to look at:

Modem Router
Wired Network Adaptor or Wireless

The latest wireless kit is very easy to set up, and not that much more expensive than the wired kit.

I agree with Igorian, separate router is the way to go. Especially if you can hide it in a cupboard somewhere.

A separate router is undoubtedly best but it's not the cheapest. If you have Windows 98 or above, all you need is a network adapter for each PC (which may be built in already) and a cable. To connect two PC's you need a crossover cable. If you want to add more you'll need a hub OR you can use ethernet - but only if your network adapters have coax connectors on them. These are getting rare.

That's the hardware sorted out. The software is already on your Windows disk. It's called Internet Connection Sharing. Alternatively, there used to be a program called Lansuite which was free for home use. Have a look around the internet.
