.....but I assume that is not your email address....is that correct.
Ignoring the blind-you-with-science folks, I want to answer your specific query.
No, your IP Address is not your email address.
If you posted a response to this, or any other forum, from a corporate network then it is
probably possible that this corporate network could be identified.
However, just because the post came from your, ahem, corporation does not point the finger at you.
Your organisation may well, though, have internal monitoring that could tie specific web sessions to a PC and, presumably, an individual user.
If you don't work for a big organisation, then the situation becomes murkier.
Let's address the question of email address first. If you posted from an account that was tied to an email address, then it's probably quite easy for the hoster to suggest that it was you who posted the message.
If, on the other hand, you posted "anonymously", and someone is suggesting that an IP Address = an Email Address, then they are simply trying to scare you. There is no guaranteed (in law) method of trying to tie an email address to an IP address.
I'm intrigued as to the background to this story but I would strongly advise you against posting any further information, especially if you are concerned about a legal challenge.
If you would like to IM me about the technical issues, please feel free.
Regards
Scott
