I am replacing an old flat roof. It is ply, but I am going to use 18mm OSB.
Currently, the Fasica boards are nailed into the joists (fine ?), and also into the edge of the ply board.
The drip edges (drip battens I think they are called), are also nailed "through" the top of the fasica boards, and into the edge of the ply.
(Long nails all round)
My question is, once the OSB is laid, is it ok for me to copy what's been done i.e. :
1) Nail top of fascia board through into the edge of the OSB (with mid point of fascia board nailed into joist) ?
2) Nail drip batten "through" the fasica board into the edge of the OSB.
(The roof covering will be EPDM, so the releant nails/fixings will ultimately go through the EPDM and into the drip battens (and, looking at the various EPDM instruction videos, these nails seem fairly long, so I guess they will go into drip batten (for sure), through to fasica board (most likley), and on into edge on OSB ?? (?)
I am just a bit concerned about nailing into the edge of OSB as I think I heard somewhere that its fine nailing through the face/back - i.e. main surface, but not great when nailing through edge.
Any advice gratefully received.
