Is there any reason not to use stainless steel sheet on shower wall?

Stainless steel is used as a splashback in kitchens, is there any reason to not use it as a large shower panel?

I would expect it would get stained/tarnished, note that stainless steel is just that - stains less not stain free.
 
seeing as sinks and tops are made from the stuff why not. Copper is nice too, especially if you distress it with some mottling and then seal it. Plenty of guides out there.

I imagine that it would be difficult to keep properly clean. In the kitchen, the best way to keep stainless steel clean is with regular application of WD40 as a cleaner and a prevention agent.

Keeping stainless wall in a bathroom "touch-free" would be almost impossible, I also have no idea how much a large sheet of high-quality stainless steel would cost.

That said - there is another backsplash material that is perfect - glass. I am currently oscillating between a glass wall and a large-format tile (1200x1200) to avoid as much grout as possible

It would be interesting to spec. the cost of all three as an exercise - I've been unable thus far to get an estimate online without submitting an email address.

I could give a detail material explanation to this but in short, it is a terrible material to use in a decorative manner.
As Mr DeLorean found out.

It will be subject to rust spots and tarnishing and be a cow to seal against.

Thanks for looking into that, those tiles are huge, I can't see how heavy they are on the site.
I also want to avoid grout, but don't want anything too heavy.
I suppose I should just go for shower panels for ease.
