Does anyone know if a 1930's London build will have asbestos in the fireplace? Recently knocked out a partially covered fireplace to find this

Anywhere could have Asbestos used. Only way to get satisfied result is a sample analysis.

That's the "builders opening", and those bricks are very unlikely to contain asbestos.

From the way the bricks were knocked about at the side I suspect a back boiler used to live there... If there was any asbestos, it left with the rest of the boiler. Is there a flue liner further up?

As he said, only way to be sure is to test but there is nothing there that looks like it was constructed with asbestos -containing materials.
