Is this a normal 2-way switching setup in Germany?

I was rewiring some 2 way light switches, they had previously worked as 2 way and then after someone else changed them (without writing what went where before removing the old ones) they worked as individual switches but not 2 way ones.

I mapped out what went where:
- a line/live connecting both switches (daisy chained to other parts of the circuit so cannot be switched on and off without impacting other lights elsewhere)
- a wire connecting both switches but nothing else
- a wire connecting both switches and the light itself

I connected it up as shown in the attached picture and it worked fine. When I got to the second set of switches it was just the same. I have never come across this arraignment before, is it normal for Germany? The suggested circuit on the back of the switch packet was more normal (one live to one switch, 2 cables connecting, switched live to light).

OK thanks. I have never seen that in the UK. That lack of ability to add intermediate switches to it perhaps means it is only used in small rooms where extra switches are unlikely?
