Hey everyone thanks in advance for any help!

So I’m rushed back to England and now looking for a van to be my home for the next year or two.

I see this beast of a van for just 2000, all kitted out and perfect.

This is its recent MOT report, the seller is going to fix these bits and get back to me.

He was saying the clutch is going to go but now has been told it might just need gear box fluid.

I’m thinking to get one of these company’s to come over and check out the engine , clutch etc for £100 fee or so

Are any of these things a big no no?

Is this van worth my time?

I don’t need it to last forever just be a sturdy home for a year or more.

Any help is amazing thank. Thank you lads nl

What is he asking for it?

If the welding is done and an mot obtained, from the same test centre that failed it, it could be worth a punt provided you are prepared to write off the value over the next 2 years.

Where is the 2021 MOT?

Also notable that 2019-20 it did 1k miles, and in the next 2 years it did 20k. Significantly different usage.

No one is going to spend the money required required on repairing that corrosion to a high standard - it will be roughly patched and almost certainly won't last 2 years and might not even last 1 year.
The "camper" kit out will almost certainly be compete crap as well.
You'd be better starting with a clean van and a mattress in the back.

Why has he shown 2023 MOT fail, then 2020 MOT pass.

vans worth scrap value without a valid MOT - if you want it, offer £300

Don’t spend anything, until the corrosion issue around the suspension areas have been investigated.....thats major stuff, the rest is easily dealt with.

Ye for sure. I’m looking at it with a few car knowing people in a few days.

Thanks for the advice!

Just to show general condition of previous MOT and stuff, he’s getting another MOT done now/fixing the parts on it .

He’s got 2000 on there but it was up for 1700, reckon I could get it back down to that or maybe a bit lower.

The size of it and the adventure I would have in it over a year or two make me want it!! Even if I have to write it off in 2 years time… thanks for the advice :)

Offer him 1200 and settle for 1500 if you really want it. He’s trying to get his money for the repairs, you don't want to be stung and he’s off to Canada so wants some money.
