Not sure if there was a better place to post this.

I just had my 3 bedroom house redecorated and soon after doing that I noticed water marks/stains in 3 different places on the ground floor.

2 marks are in the same room, left and right of chimney breast

And the other mark is in the living room left of the chimney breast.

Dining room left of chimney breast - u can see water marks on the chimney breast too

Dining room right of chimney breast - the wall that has wallpaper is the wall separating the living room and the dining room

Living room left of chimney breast - left of the lampshade it's the wall of the dining room.

The house was damp-proofed in 1998 with a 30 year guarantee (the company has since gone bust).

The wall behind these two rooms is a solid brick side wall which is only accessible via the neighbours' gardens.

One of the gardens has a relatively big shed with a slanted roof (and the slope is towards my wall rather than their garden) and no gutters. I'd say there's one foot behind the shed (in other words it doesn't touch my wall)

All 3 marks seem consistent with one another - and the first picture (left of the chimney breast in dining room - there's no shed behind that).

I'm having 3 companies round on Tuesday but I could use with people's opinions!

Thanks!

It's the water from your neighbours shed.

Andy

Sorry if I'm being naive, but if it is the water from the shed, why is there water on the actual chimney breast itself?

I mean that's more of an inner wall insnt it? I dont really understand how damp works or how water travels

I am hoping it is that too, but getting the neighbours to move their shed or do something about it will be far more difficult than probably doing a repair on the wall.

Is the Fireplace closed up, is there a ventilation panel into the chimney breast ?

The one in the dining room ( 2 photos), only goes up to the ceiling of the ground floor. It does not continue on the first floor (it was removed by the previous owners). I'm not aware of any ventilation other than what can come out from the actual hole at the bottom.

I had a quick look in there and there doesn't seem to be any moisture in the soil.

The one int he living room though continues on the first floor in the master bedroom and there is a ventilator in the room which seems to be in a good condition.
