It doesn’t make me feel uncomfortable, it’s just a song..

What does it represent - a golden past that is lost that we are trying to reclaim? An ideal to strive for? A myth to uphold?

Where do you draw the line between patriotism and capitalism?
The empire ended after ww2 but it has taken a little longer for people to catch up. Maintaining a good relationship with the Commonwealth is probably the realistic way forward. Capitalism is in human nature it just needs regulating , communism is a failed experiment,

When at school I wanted to study history as I enjoyed it.

However I couldn't justify it as I thought it not important enough.

But it really is important isn't it?

My girls enjoys History and often talk to about it at home as a family.

To the Lefties above, should we discourage talking about or being proud of our History?
Do you think it might just be possible to proud of your history/country and to learn from it?

All of it? Irish Famine says hi. Opium wars - forgot that one did you? It's not about being proud or not it's about actually knowing something about it and not being flag s haggers.

There are idiots but then there are special kinds like yourself.

The First Opium War was fought from 1839 to 1842 between China and Britain. It was triggered by the Chinese government's campaign to enforce its prohibition of opium, which included destroying opium stocks owned by British merchants and the British East India Company. The British government responded by sending a naval expedition to force the Chinese government to pay reparations and allow the opium trade.

Are you saying I need to be ashamed of what the upper classes did over 200 years before I was born?

Do you want 11 & 13 year old girls (daughters of a plumber)
to pay for the wrongs of this country in savage times by the wealthy trade dealer's.

Where do you think my ancestors were in that barbaric world?

Where were yours?
