Kaspersky VPN

I appear to have received a "free" copy of the above to add to my protection.
Is this worthwhile and, will I automatically have to pay for it in the near (or distant) future.
 
It's likely a subscription with an initial free period, so you would need to start paying at some point.

Whether it's worthwhile depends on what you do online, and how highly you value your privacy (in terms of advertisers tracking you).

A VPN will almost always slow down your internet connection, so unless you have a specific use case, I wouldn't recommend it.
 
I have a vpn that I use on my firestick when I’m watching films and sport on Kodi. NordVPN. Think I paid about £45 for a 27 month subscription through TopCashback. Doesn’t seem to slow the streaming down however, when I once tried IPVanish, it did.

Currently it’s £65 for a two year subscription and if you buy it through TopCashback, you get £38 back so it only costs £27 for two years - it’s a no brainer.

One other thing I found. It’s impossible to log onto a VPN provider site to sign up as my isp blocks them. I suspect others do too. I had to disconnect my iPad from Wifi and tether to my mobile through 4G to sign up. After that, no problem loggin in through the NordVPN app.

CBA once I’d logged on and subscribed there was no need to log onto them ever again.
 
Who is the ISP that blocks VPN sites? Virgin Media?
 
I use NordVPN, very fast and reliable.

Virgin Media throttle connections but NordVPN seems to have negated that.

I’m with Vodafone. It doesn’t block you getting anything once you have it, it just blocks you from accessing nordvpn.com to sign up. With the vpn on, I can access it. See if you can access it.

I can access it on sky.

One thing with kapersky was that I found my boot times were extended, took about 2 minutes to boot, this was due to it being set as dependent on kaspersky in services.
That was the AV software though.
 
I have used several VPNs over the years. The ISP does not throttle the speed the VPN does. My current VPN maxes out at about 80mb when my ISP speed is 500mb.
 
Do you really want to be routing your internet traffic through a free Russian owned VPN?

I don't use a vpn, I have in the past - free software based ones that route all my traffic via them so they can sell me stuff with targeted adverts.
Gave up with that, took too long downloading porn and illegal files. :)
