Door warning buzzer on my fridge should operate after 20 secs or so if door is left open, but recently starts to buzz as soon as door reaches 90 degrees, strangley the buzz changes pitch and becomes muffled as the door it closed slightly and turns off .
Any ideas on fix.?

Have you resistance checked the door switch & does the light go out when it is actuated?

I have exactly the same fridge. We got strange buzzing noises and weird stuff on the display, then it all went out.

Is it under warranty?

Luckily, mine was, and the service guy said there was a design fault with the wiring loom between the door and body of the fridge that meant opening and closing the door repeatedly (exactly what you do with a fridge - Doh!!) will sever one or more of the conductors in the loom. He replaced it with a "modified" loom, which TBH just looked like the old one with some tape wrapped round it!!

If not under warranty, ring Currys and ask for a modified wiring loom to be fitted FOC as it is a recognised design fault.

Don’t suppose you have any paperwork regarding this you could share, ? Curry’s are ducking the issue.

They will duck the issue, they're Currys!!

The trouble is, this appliance is only sold through Currys. Even the service is arranged by them. Ring up Kenwood and they redirect you to Currys!

How much out of warranty is it?

European law says that all goods must have at least a 2 year warranty.

If it's older than that, you could quote chapter and verse from the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and see what they say.

CRA 2015 says that if the fault occurs after six months, the consumer has to prove that the problem was down to a fault or issue at the manufacturer, as opposed to wear and tear or misuse by the consumer.

In accordance with a law known as the Statutes of Limitations, consumers have this right for six years in England and five years in Scotland.

Basically, you may need to get an independent report from an appliance expert to confirm the fault and, importantly, where it originated.

If it turns out that there is an inherent manufacturers fault (and there is in the fridge door wiring loom for that Kenwood model!), Currys will have to assist you.

You could try telling Currys you are aware there is a recognised design fault with the door wiring loom as other customers with your fridge have had rectification work carried out FOC.

If they accept this, it may save you the expense of an independent report.

Either way, they cannot shirk their responsibilities, even though they have tried to shake you off.

Is this the harness you are referring to? https://www.partmaster.co.uk/kenwoo...1&path=67607,867674:867680&model_ref=11275211

Don't think so, the one I had fitted had an earth ring on it. I'll try and take a picture of it in situ.

It's a bit awkward because it is fitted and impossible to see the whole thing, but I don't think that spare part you listed is it.

It is in the same place as your pic. on the exploded view of the parts list, just looks like it's been made differently. But I suppose that could be the old design.
