Hi, I have a keston C55 - fully serviced by British Gas. The unit has a long standing problem with errors, E30 and E123 (E30 - Difference between flow and return temparatures too high, E123 - no info in manual)

British Gas have fitted a new fan, new pump, heat exchange (2 years ago), new sensors, improved bypass but unfortunately the error persists.

Typically, this happens when things startup from cold, Keston say is circulation, this has all been tested. The only item on the boiler not to be changed is the circuit board, however Keston say this would not cause these errors.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

You have two problems here, one is the boiler and the other the maintainer. What exactly does fully serviced mean anyway, there is no definition of 'fully serviced', it is either serviced to manufacturer instructions or it is not.

Those in the trade know that the C55 is a heap of junk that usually plays up in its maiden 12 months and continues to give problems and cost money until it finally hits the bottom of a skip (or more likely the dropside body of a battered old Transit). It is very difficult to bite the bullet on an expensive investment but don't kid yourself; statistically things will not get better.

The only permanent solution is to remove it, because when you have fixed this problem, another will raise its head. Keston boilers make a good living for those who specialize in repairing them, and those who fit new boilers. The only loser is the person that bought it in the first place.

Internet forums used to promote them as the 'second coming'; customers we would refer to as internet specialists specified them left right and centre. If you search back on this forum there were 'trade experts'* singing the praises of the things.

I lost loads of work 10-15 years ago by refusing to install them. That was one business decision I've not regretted. We've pulled around 8 out this year, every customer was delighted to see them go.
 
Thanks for the response, its not really an option for me to replace at this stage as it would cost too much. I agree that once it starts to fail then the domino effect kicks in. I was just wondering if anyone had any similar experience with E30 & E125 errors - i was hoping to keep it going for a while longer :-)
