Kitchen wires help

We are renovating a small bedsit and the kitchen wires are all exposed and a bit of a maze. I have traced most them them.
However, the once circled in red comes from upstairs into a black junction box and back the same way upstairs. What is even more confusing is it is wired up with the boiler at the fuse box rather than the sockets, lights or cooker. Why would it come out in the kitchen when the boiler is plugged in at the other end of the house? Any ideas?
The second confusing one is the wire that goes along the wall to the far corner. It comes from the white switch to the right and hits a junction box (with no other connections apart from a single wire going upstairs). The switch to the right was for the hood and cooker but is wired to the sockets rather than the cooker at the fuse box. The wire that goes along the wall to the far corner is providing power rather than taking power from the switch. So the switch gets power from 2 wires. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's anyone's guess really. The cable circled red may have been for an old immersion switch ,which had been utilised to supply the boiler ,but who knows.
I expect you are going to engage an electrician to do some upgrading ?

Needs ripping out and starting all over while the walls are like that.

If you have a ring final circuit, there should be one cable coming into the kitchen and one going out.

These can be identified then extended or re-routed to the start and finish points of the circuit. Then all the points in-between can be connected.

This way, you can eliminate all the dodgy cable and joints.

Over the years things change, and with domestic often no one puts pen to paper when they change. Last house had an immersion heater, the cables were re-used when a combi boiler fitted, so a socket in kitchen, knocked through so socket in living room, and a socket in what was airing cupboard all supplied from the 16 amp MCB which did supply immersion.

Tracing can be near impossible, the decision has to be made, rip out or trace. No one can do that for you.
