Are you using needles and a ball of wool or cheating and using a machine?
When my Dad was in the RN during the war he learnt hot to crochet and would often bring things home for Mum that he had made in his spare time. Cardigans for the girls, sweaters for the boys and small cot blankets for whoever in the street was having a baby at the time.
