If it says on the packets "do not use in a bath room" then that also includes the kitchen. I spent two days laying cheap laminated flooring, a thin vener on a sort of compressed hardboard backing at £10.00 for 6 sheets. a good job resulted until a few days later I discovered that the joins in two of the connecting boards was slightly raised.
The cause was the dog! after drinking some water the is always a slight spillage around the bowl, this seeped between the joins and the base board underneath started to expand causing this raised joint. the down side is that you can't just remove those boards (and the dag) because they are interlocking. Ah well, lesson learnt.
