Hi, about to do the exterior of our garden studio clad in Siberian larch planks.

We have a shadow gap and the planks will be fastened to battens.

What would you recommend for the most unobtrusive finish ?

Tongue-Tite Plus Stainless Steel T&G Screw

or

Lost Head stainless bright nail?
(Hand Nailed as a I believe a gun can damage/dent the planks)

Thanks in advance

Ben

it doesn’t damage planks if you use say a cordless dewalt with the plastic nose.

hand nailing damages boards if you aren’t really really careful

tongue tite are great screws and an option, just bear in mind Siberian larch is a dense, hard timber which can split - you might need to pre drill.

I suggest using end grain sealer on cut ends

We have used quite a bit of siberia larch have both screwed and nail gunned it.
As above pre drill for screws
Tends to blunt tools fairly quickly and be ready to get splinters in your fingers!.
Still love the look though pics are a shed & greenhouse at home been up about 5 years.

I cladded this house in Siberian Larch, using 3mm wood drill bits, an Estwing hammer and 7500 65mm Stainless Steel lost head nails. The supplier Vincent Timber said the warranty would be void if I used a Nail Gun.

That looks very similar to the finish I am hoping for. Is that open jointed cladding? Do you have any pictures of the finish you got using the lost head nails?
