Is there any Laser ‘Lazer’ distance measuring devices out there which you don’t need to add the length of the unit into the overall measurement?

I have a dewalt and you don't have to add anything. It's calibrated to take account of the length of the housing

Why would it be ridiculous?
A laser measure has a brain which knows its own length so adds it on unlike a steel tape that relies on the brain of the operator.
They vary in price dramatically depending on accuracy, durability, number of functions ,my Leica x310 for instance will measure from either edge, volume, area, height by triangulation and several others, is water ,dust and drop resistant as well.

Surely all of them measure from the back edge as standard as that is how they would be commonly used?
And then a step-up would be models that can adjust for front or rear measurement.
