Lead valley detail

We are having an extension built and I have concerns over the end of the valley. The roofer is leaving the lead valley unsupported to the right of the photo and wants me to install facia board to cover up this detail.
Any advice?

The hip iron and bottom hip needs to come off.
The valley lead then needs dressing with a turn up , probably need a saddle too. Before the hip iron and hip go back
Curious , what timber was used for a lay board under the valley lead?

Thank you for your reply. The valley was made up of two boards 10 1/2"x 3/4".
