Leaking EPDM roof

Hi.
A few years ago, my parents paid a considerable amount of money to have their flat, cold, felted extesion roof into a warm, EPDM roof. It was OK at first, but a leak formed and started to drip onto the internal windowsill. Not only that, but there was water pooling in places, directly below the EPDM.
A few months ago, the original company replaced the roof (while being quite heavy-handed - there's now a crack between wall and plasterboard in the room below). Shortly thereafter, the drips started again. I believe that on the recent rebuild, they put in a VCL. My dad was there when this was done, but couldn't be sure if this was fitted below or above the insulation. There were also two vents in the original roof (or rather the walls at roof level) which I'm not sure were blocked up (which I assume would be the correct thing to do).
The owner of the company has agreed (I believe) to come and look at it, but doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry.
My parents are OK about the whole situation, but I am quite upset about it, as they are elderly and I don't think they should have this kind of stress towards the end of their hard-working lives.

Thoughts? Advice? All suggestions gratefully received.
 
Its a bit hard to visualize what the construction of the roof is, can you describe the layers of roof material from outside to in?

If its now a warm roof then the original soffit or fascia vents arent needed and shouldnt go anywhere anyway as insulation should go across the roof just under the deck and down the inside face of the fascia.

Also are you saying the water ingress is a leak or condensation?

I didn't see the construction, but I think it was OSB, with a VCL on top, Celotex and then EPDM.
As far as the water ingress goes, it's unknown. In the case of the original issue though, there was quite a lot of water under the EPDM so leak seemed more likely to me, but I'm far from an expert.
 
It should have been (from the inside) plasterboard, vcl, cellotex, OSB, and then the EPDM. You can't lay the EPDM on top of the Cellotex, otherwise you'd crack it as you walked across it. Flat roofs don't tend to be cold or warm, unless you've got recessed lights in them, and these aren't a good idea to put in; but if it's a cold roof, and then cellotex is just above the plasterboard and facia vents above the cellotex, and if it's a warm roof, then the cellotex goes to the top, but you wouldn't have any vents or you'd ruin the insulation in the roof, hence warm roofs aren't a good idea.

It probably was built like that. As I say,I didn't see it. I think they might have used the insulation slabs that have wood on one side.
There are no recessed lights.

I'll take photos when I'm next over there. There's not a great deal to see mind you!

Some overall external photos would be useful and from on top of the roof showing the flashings or other abutment detail.

as Noseall says -you need to identify the source of the water ingress.

it could be: condensation or water leaking through the extension walls, ie at fascia or where extension abuts house.

Where are the drips you are talking about? -are they damp patches on the plasterboard ceiling? or are they drips onto the windowcill.

Why did the company re do the roof? EPDM shouldnt be able to leak really unless its fitted really badly. Usually the issues relate to poorly formed seams or incorrect falls allowing ponding.
