Hi all,

I bought a home in March 2023 and noticed recently after heavy rain that the front entrance to the property is allowing water to enter above the front door.

From the photos attached, I have shown the front door and the square shaped entrance.

I have attached photos from the outside looking up and also looking down onto the slates.

Inside shows the back of the front door and where the water is showing above it. (Yes, we are due to paint the horrible green that the previous owners had but don’t want to until we have sorted this issue.)

Any guidance or advice on where to focus on or to try address this issue would be greatly appreciated.

It looks to me like the gutters are blocked and spilling. Get up there and clean them out. Pour water in and see if it runs away correctly.

From above the joints look incorrectly made. The corners seem to be worst.

The slope might not be correct. Pouring water in will test that.

Thank you for your reply. I’ll give them a proper clean in the next day or so.

Regarding the joints, do you mean the joints of the guttering or roof?

I meant the guttering joints. They should have a rubbery sealing strip, and a plastic clip to hold the parts tightly together

There is no felt or eaves tray, and water is getting behind the gutter.
