Hi, I tried using the garden tap for the first time in new property and the movement has caused small leaks from a couple of valves. Can you tell me how I stop the leaks please?

2 pairs of water pliers and give it a nip up...
If it’s no good you could isolate the tap - undo the nuts and stick a bit of ptfe tape around the olive (just 2 or 3 wraps should do it.)
Then tighten the nuts back up. If it still leaks call a plumber. If you’re in shropshire area i’ll happily give you a hand if i find myself close enough one day. You’re probably looking at a £40 job if you call someone out and catch them on a good day.

Thanks for the advice...Is their a rule of thumb for what direction to undo the nuts?

You posted a pic of a compression joint against (what looks like..) some knackered render.
Kneel to the left of it - have grips in your hand. Put grips around the top nut and with the second set of grips put those around the bottom nut.
As you pull the top set of grips towards you, push the bottom set away ... gently.
Easy mistake with these is to want to tighten the living hell out of it, which then knackers the olive inside - leading to a bigger leak.
If youre really unsure or are really struggling then call a local plumber who will solder a new elbow on. It’ll take 10 mins.
