We're currently in the process of redecorating our lounge and hallway, which currently has a real wooden floor in. However, we hate the current colour of it. It is far too dark, and we're really looking for something lighter.
Here is a photo of the current finish:
I've sanded back a sample, which is actually a nicer light colour - however, after applying a satin clear varnish, it went much darker again (did take a photo post varnish, but can't find it at the moment):
I've also tried some Osmo stains - white, grey, and oak. But they look incredibly artificial and too intense:
Does anyone have any suggestions on a finish that would maintain the lightness, yet still looks natural?
