How old is the TV?
It may be dried out capacitors in the PSU or Tcon board.
Or faulty connections on the ribbon cables after several moves (have you moved it recently?)
Are you capable of repairing it if you knew what it is?

The tv is approx 3yrs old but I don’t think it’s been used that much. It’s the in-laws tv and they said it’s just started to do this. I’ve tried it tonight through a firestick and picture and sound is perfect then after a couple of minutes the picture lines appear with the sound continuing in the background. I’ve removed the back and looked at the boards for any signs of damage but nothing apparent. Yes I should be able to repair it if i knew what it was and if it is actually repairable.

Try reseating all the LCD cables.
Look closely at all the electrolytic capacitors, are any bulbous/expanded and not perfectly can like. (The caps are the metal can like components on the boards).
BUT - make sure it is turned off and unplugged 5 minutes before you touch anything inside.

Top man thank you, I’ll unplug everything off the boards, clean them and reseat them all again and see what happens. Thanks again for your help.
Often the top surface of these will have a sort of delta scribed in the top surface of the can, a designed in weakness to allow them to gently burst when they fail. Look for any welling in that top surface and/or signs of the can being blown off the rubber seal at the base. Replace any which appear to have failed, they are only pennies each.
I’ve had a good look at the pcbs and nothing looks obvious to anything that may have blown etc. I’ve reseated all the ribbons and turned the tv back on. The picture seemed perfect up till about 45/50mins then all the horizontal lines appeared again. Could the tcon board be faulty maybe?
That delay before failure suggest the TV is getting too warm in use ? Possibly the air cooling vents have become clogged iwith dust.
Maybe time for some freezer spray diagnostics?

I had a colleague that had a similar issue, he could never find the exact cause but he did cure it.
He added a fan pointing at the boards to keep it cool and it never did it again.
Lol.
Something is overheating, getting hot and failing.
I.e. The heatsink paste on a transistor may have dried out.
Could be one of several things that cause it.
