Morning all, lintel help please, have asked the question before, but tomorrow I will be installing lintel 'hopefully' I understand the lintel needs to sit on full blocks if possible to support the 3900 IG lintel (flat roof single single ext)

From my photos the external block work would be sitting on 120mm blocks would this be ok for building control? Understand I need 150 mm over hang.

The internal wall done last so learnt from my mistake and corrected.

The bearing should be 150mm, whether you get away with 120mm is probably fairly likely but depends on how keen your BCO’s eye is
It doesn’t need to be a whole block. It can be whatever as long as it’s 150mm.

Would two engineering bricks be ok,then continue with block work around lintel, this would break the bond, but would give me the allowance,I have removed the two blocks either side of lintel before they set..

Sorry forgot to say thanks for replying, just slightly in a panic...

It should be 150mm, I wouldn't lose any sleep if it was only 120mm though. I will stress, as others will no doubt point out, that other BCO's may take a different view. I would also stress that there is no statutory inspection required for a lintol.

Thanks for the replys, much appreciated,to confirm would my drawing meet BC..hope it makes sence.

All lintels are capable of 100mm bearings in common loading situations

Thanks guys, all been brilliant, will go with the engineering bricks option,BC guy easy going just pops he's head in and says all fine and off he goes.Just didn't want to risk it..
