Hi,

Last night I lost the lighting for two rooms downstairs (mixture of halogen GU5.3 spots and standard bayonet fixtures. The hallway lights are unaffected, despite being on the same circuit.

No fuses were not tripped and i tested the RCD, with no affect.

Is it possible that the transformer has gone, if so what that be responsible for tripping the non-spotlights?

Many thanks

Giles

"No fuses were not tripped and I tested the RCD with no affect"

What do you mean you tested the RCD with no affect? Do you mean you tested the RCD but it had no effect on your electrics and so didn't work? Or it didn't trip when pressing the test button? Or what?

How did you get the 2 rooms lit up again? Did the lights suddenly turn back on or did you have to do something? Or are they still not working?

Who installed the spotlights? Was it a DIY job?

You will most likely have a loose connection at one of the loop in/out terminals I would start at the nearest working light fitting to the 2 rooms effected. If you have a regular pendant type fitting you will need to be checking the 3 red/brown wires in the middle connector or the light fighting
