Loft conversion - order

Morning all,

What is the correct order to get things done with regards to loft conversion and what are the absolute must haves to make sure everything above board?

- planning permission
- drawings
- quotes from builders
- building control (when and who confirms the schedule for their visits)

A while back we had two quotes from loft companies in the area but it was just a verbal quote without any of the above. Either it’s just a standard rate in the area or they will provide a more detailed one nearer time.
