I will try to keep this updated with the progress of the loft we are starting next week, this will be completed by a local company with me sourcing some of the parts/tradesmen and then completing the decorating.

We are converting the house from a two bedroom and adding an additional bedroom/en-suite in the roof,It will be purely a Velux conversion and won't include any dormers.

The mess, years worth of junk!

Scaffolding up with a platform around the side of the house to allow me to repaint the render as its currently flaking

Here are some google sketch up's with what I hope it will look like when it's finished.

How did you support the roof after removing all those trusses?

Yeah sorry the Sketchup's don't really include the structural parts! There will be three steel joists, two at the floor level and one at the ridge. The vertical walls shown will be structural and support the trusses onto the steels.

Loft moving along nicely although not without a few problems... Found some damp in the cavity wall and rather wet insulation, still working out what has caused this. Render was bad on the side of the house and paint had flaked so maybe the cause.

Nice access hole cut...
