Hey all.
Live in a 1950 council house and trying to get ideas to start a loft conversion.
The problem is the chimney is in middle of house, and also king post.
I am unsure is the chimney is supporting the Perlins.
It a very confusing loft with the chimney in middle with wall slitting both sides of house.
I am planning to get s S.E but just wanted to get people's thoughts.

The purlins look to be supported by the chimney breast, yes. Does the king post sit on a structural wall, or is it hanging off the ridge beam and supporting the ceiling?

Blup

It may be supporting the ceiling rather than the ridge, get an SE/ builder/building surveyor in if you are uncertain.
