I am trying to put a new cover on my loft so it opens down.on a push lock .but i can't figure out how to hinge it , without there being a gap.
it's probably a simple question .but to me it's not the framework round the edge as a slight rebate probably standard architrave.
i have been racking my brains but i cant solve it can anyone help.the part you can see is where i want to hang the door

If the cover fits OK below, and you are happy with the present size - then you might consider removing that single piece of timber, on the right, which lines the hatch. That will allow you to hinge the cover flat against that side. Don't use a 'push lock', they are terrible - they jam and never allow the hatch to seal properly. Buy a turn latch and pole to fit.

here is what I did. To use the same door. Cut it down so it fits within the hole lining below it. Then add a strip of wood all the way around above it, use a piano hinge and fix a door handle type latch that you can operate with a square shaft on a stick. So its a push to close and use the shaft on a stick to open, turn it and the door drops down with its own weight - controlled by the stick in the spindle hole.

Your frame is unsuitable for drop down door , needs change in design to allow for one .
