Hi there ,

Just after some advice on a long slow leak under a tile floor .

Faulty hose for washing machine the culprit . Leaked underneath that utility cub where there was no tiles , from there , proceeded underneath the tiles( concrete floor and screed ) . Noticed it when slight discolouration on the edge of the next rooms wood . Promptly found and stopped . However probably loads of moisture in the screed underneath . Noticed sim grout coming out in a few places and a couple of wobly . Will the screed/ underneath the tiles eventually dry out ?? Ideal world , let it dry , replace the wobbly tiles regrout etc . Or think the whole thing needs to come up and replace ? If the latter , would insurance cover it . £500 excess on escape of water …. I presume it’s screed underneath the tiles ? Or could it be board ? We weren’t present when done . 2017 extension and install on a concrete new floor . Any help /advice is much appreciated .

No you will need to chop it out and rescreed/retile the effected area IMO. Insurance may help if you have accidental damage type cover but they will try to get out of it if they can. If you're sure of the extent of the damage get a quote to see if cost is less than the excess. You could do the initial chopping out and drying yourself to keep costs down.
