... how on earth can the 12 year ban be enforced? If he goes out and buys another dog tomorrow, who's actually going to know in terms of the authorities? Even more so if he waits and buys one a few years down the line when everyone's forgotten about the whole thing.

Don't give him a meaningless ban, give him 2 years in prison to think about his actions. Oh that's right, we can't as they're full and under-resourced.

And yes, the article's from the Mail before the usual suspects start moaning.

And people still clamour for more cutbacks.

We need more police, prisons and staff. Means spending our taxes though

May be

Could also have a mass clear out of the most violent offenders / prisoners so as to free up more space

Could even save a few squid ?

Or reform of those services to make sure the right people get the right jobs...
No substitute for numbers of Police, Prison staff and prison spaces.

Always room for better training, but needs more manpower to release people to be trained.

Or the right people in the first place...

Ex squaddies instead of 21 year olds with zero life experience who qualify because they have a degree in sociology or basket weaving...

Irrelevant.

Nothing stopping squaddies applying for the positions. Now, if there were more positions.......

Except it's not irrelevant, box ticking means they simply don't get through the selection because they don't have degrees or are simply the wrong sex or race.

It's exactly what happens in the police

No.

THINK it through. You are asking for the same number of people, just different people, no net gain.

More are needed

I recall a fly on the wall doc where they were training prison officers

Some woman trainee made a complaint because some one used the F word

And she wants to work in a prison :giggle:

Mind u it could be worse some one might have asked her where she was from

All hell would have broke loose
