Looped supply EV Charger Dilema

I have plans to have an Easee 7kw EV charger installed. I sent info and picture to the installer and expect survey next week.

I have recently discovered my supply looks to be looped. My DNO is Western Power and I know they unloop for free and put things back right. I have posted this in advance of being told such as I noticed by watching horror ev videos on youtube. I hope it is old and just been left but likely is looped still.


My problem arises in my house and its location. I look to be the first house and my neighbour is looped onto me. I am the first of three houses so my 3rd neighbour must be a direct supply? No idea.



I have included photo of my cutout and fuse. I realise most DNO won't allow an install unless loads are checked etx.


My question to you is have any of you had experience with unlooping in a terrace house with a path leading to it eg no drive. My photos show my predicament. I am scared this job won't go ahead as the DNO won't like our only access being this small path.


I am a disabled driver, changing to an EV charging at home would be a necessity. The prospect of neighbours disagreeing puts me off too. Surely this change/unloop will come someday? Or so I heard from other posters years ago.



Also I noticed the fuse holder says 100amp but it also has 100 amp written down. Not sure that would make a difference. We also have gas heating and minimal electric usage, unaware of neighbour.

edit: I have a parking space at the top of the path and my cable would run up the gravel. This space is not on the main road. Which is apparently ok.


Will they likely use a moling machine as that looks easiest than a trench... just stressed for myself and the neighbour if they even agree...

It says you have a 100A fuse so they might just leave as it is.

The DNO will consider what the load may be from all of the properties that are looped. Just because you have a 100 amp fuse means nothing. All the properties may also have 100amp fuses.
You are having an EV point, one of the others may also be considering an EV point, one may have a large load of another sort, a kiln, or welding equipment perhaps…
The DNO will assess the situation and act accordingly. It’s up to them. Certainly it can’t be determined on an Internet forum!

No of course we can't make decisions or pre-empt the DNO, it is only them who can determine the predicted loading. However in my limited experience I've found looped supplies with 100A fuses seem to be a heavier cable...EDIT looking back at pics I think not in this case.

Additionally I've found a small terrace of 3/4/5 properties are ocassionally fed by ring main and often with 100A fuses. One such set-up had a building extention and the mini digger chopped straight through the loop cable. As nothing appeared to go bang and the 4 properties (block of maisonettes with E7/NSHs) all had power it was assumed the cable was dead/redundant, that was until the concrete was poured and builder got thrown over backwards.

I've previousely shown a pic of a pair of meters on one fuse of a looped supply and all 3 properties currently have EV points.One of these used to have NSHs and the third did have/possibly still does
