Lost battery indcator

AV virus scan suddenly found a load of files it did not like and since then the battery level indicator on my Thinkpad running XP has failed it says not compatible.

I am sure the operating system is all in a partition on the hard drive but how I reinstall it I don't know.

Any pointers please how to cure?

Thanks spot on took me straight to page I needed R50e was think pad type.
