i would be grateful for any advice. I have a Ideal Isar combi boiler serving four radiators and providing hot water. The heating is working ok and I get a healthy flow rate from the cold water taps but I get little more than a trickle from the hot taps. I used to get a really powerful shower but now it barely dribbles out. I have the boiler serviced annually. Any ideas please.

Check the cold feed valve into the boiler, its the fourth copper pipe from the left. The adjuster should be straight up and down.

As above, Flow restrictor on cold inlet valve, even more restricted with scale/crud.

Give the dog a bad name............ Once you understand this boiler, it is far better then some of the dung piles sold as good boilers. It is lack of understanding the design and way to effect repairs that confound some of the folk.

A boiler that has been sold by the millions, a failure of a small percentage soon looks like a forest fire. Give me an Isar/ Icos any day of the week in place of a Ferrolli or Ariston, I will be a happy man.

+1. I get loads of these to do, and although the odd one beats me, on the hole they not as bad as some make out. They get a bad press purely through the law of averages (Eaga, Eco etc). Now Ferroli , they're a different kettle of fish. Now watch, you'll get a few Ferroli huggers on saying thats pish.
