Making a subfloor even

Hi all,

My floorboards are 8mm out of level. Can this be fixed screwing plywood to the floorboards.
I will be laying engineered wood flooring with a 5mm underlay. Hopefully this will give me some grace.

If so what size plywood should I use?

Doesn’t need to be level flat would be ok. but putting plywood down Won’t make it level On its own. You will need to use smoothing compounds As well
