Makita DHP486 settings

I know this is a classic case of RTFM!
But can someone advise on why this doesn’t have a screw setting? My previous Makita had 3 settings: hammer, drill and screw. Also, what if I set it to one of those dashes between the drill and hammer? Does this have any significance?

Just set the screw torque number opposite the arrow, mine shown here is on 5

my choices are hammer off and hammer on and low gear for screwing never use the clutch

The 'screw driver's settings are the numbers.

You use these numbers to set how far into the wood/wall you put the screw so you do not bury the screwhead too deeply into the wood. I set it through trail and error so the screw heads are flat to top of wood surface.

Not sure about the dash marks. I try to set it cleanly into either drill or hammer setting, and never in-between the two marks.

Can you not vary the intensity of the hammer action or drill? Is it literally on or off?

Are the numbers only there for screwing power? They have no effect on drill or hammer action?

For context, my current drill has one dial where you set screw, hammer or drill and then another dial with numbers to control the power of the selected function. And it has a gear.
It’s the comparison that is causing me some confusion.
