You'll have noticed i'm playing with a thermal store, the added volume (direct not indirect) means my existing header tank won't be big enough- need about 60 litres to make the 10%
I happen to have lurking in the back garden a very fetching avocado metal bath, its been waiting in the scrap pile for a couple of years now.
The only thing not metal in it is the plug (which won't be needed in my cunning masterplan), can anyone think of a good reason why i can't use this as my header tank?
The size is perfect- loft is low headroom but got a massive hatch so it'll go in. I'll need to fab a cover for it- grp will be favourite, got some left over mat & resin from doing the bay window. I'll also have to lash something up to fit the ballvalve to- thinking 4 x 2 clamped across the top of the bath, ply fixed to that & drilled for ball valve - its on a cranked arm, ply won't be in the water. Overflow out the overflow. Feed out the plughole- think its 1.5" so female iron to 28mm will do lovely, can't think of a neat way of getting feed above the bottom of the bath (apart from milling out the stop on the iron so 28mm will go through).
Anything i've forgotten or overlooked? If anyone has a link to a cheap 60 litre plus tank i'll be very grateful, the only ones i can find are well over the £100 mark and cash is a bit tight at the mo (time, however, is plentiful).
