Hi,
I've recently bought a second-hand Miele T8966WP EcoComfort heat pump tumble dryer which is ending programmes a little early saying "Clean out airways". I've cleaned the fluff & fine filters in the door and the same in the door opening, and the fine filter in front of the heat exchanger (bottom left). I've also cleaned the cooling fins (bottom right), which was full of fluff and shouldn't really be. But it's still ending a bit before time with the same error.

I suspect there is fluff inside the machine restricting the airflow but I'm really struggling to take the top off. I've unscrewed and removed the 2 clips at the back, and another 2 behind plastic covers on the sides. Something seems to be holding it the top on at the front but I don't want to force it and break anything.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
Stu

Have you tried sliding it away from you before you try to lift it?

You unscrew the two screws behind the covers on the left and right and push them in towards the centre of the machine.
The lid should then lift up from the front and slide back and off

Hi guy, thanks for your replies. Yes Richard, that worked :) I’ve added a photo of the clip to show anyone else who’s interested.

I’ve given it a thorough vacuum but I’m still getting that error at the end of a cycle. Any suggestions? Is there a sensor that senses the air flow somewhere?

Thanks
Stu

I have a non heatpump dryer which always says to clean the filters at the end of the cycle.
It goes away once you open and close the door but I always scoop out the lint.
Do you use fabric softener? I would stop using it as the grease in it can gum up the innards along with the fine filters.
If you are a regular fabric softener user it may pay to wipe the insides out with meths on a clean rag. The dryness of the laundry is determined from the conductivity of the laundry between the bars and the drum and a build up can affect this measurement.
I would also clean the dust off the tracks under the lid with meths and a rag too.
Try adjusting the level of dryness or you can program the dryer to dry to increase the level of dryness.
I find the automatic program does not dry enough.

Regards

Rich
