Locust builders 18th October 2020

Hi everyone

Being French my self and trying to register in France a Haynes roadster I built and reg in Sweden here is what I know

For an amateur built car you can cannot use a certificate if conformity (COC) because no matter how skilled you are you are not recognised as a manu . It is almost impossible for me to register the car with out going through some inspection which can only be done in one place a specialised laboratory
The only one verified in France is in Paris 700 Kilometres from me and it would certainly fail emissions as they take emissions from date of the car not the engine ( unlike the UK)

So you understand that unlike the UK and Sweden everything in France is made not to have amateur built cars . It is not completely impossible but the system is extremely dissuasive

You are just rambling.

Sorry, no matter what more rubbish you put, you are wrong. You have not posted 1 FACT yet, just lazy incorrect rubbish from the internet.

Your initial comment (that you keep trying to move away from) was that it was virtually impossible to modify or build a car in Europe. You were wrong, you are still wrong. You've quoted partial stuff but missed out the actual relevant important information.

I have never claimed any thing about manufacturers or companies, just that your "facts" were wrong.

You CAN build and modify in Europe, subject to the relevant laws. Same as it is in the UK, subject to the relevant laws.

More weaseling from
You

So far you have come up with diddley squat zero nowt

Apart from some mg a funnel and piece of tube
That some how in your world is some significant ? Modification

Incidentally it would appear that your modification has resulted in drilling a hole in a Monique chassis ??

That probably would fall foul of French construction regulations ??????

I don't think you are allowed to cut your lawn or make loud DIY noise on a Sunday over there either.

Laws of the country. Different to ours. Better or worse is just a viewpoint.

I am sure you will prove me wrong and show me the info.

But the story you tell above us rang a bell and after digging confirmed that.

The cars involved were indeed modified (mostly badly) and being g driven badly. Excess noise, excess speeds, over stretched tyres and fouling of the bodywork, amongst other issues.

Modifying a car in Germany is hard (never disagreed with that), but modified cars from other countries are generally tolerated.

The cars and drivers were stopped for attitude and driving standards, and only then had their cars impounded for safety violations.

But let's not get facts in the way of a good headline.

Unless of course its a different event and you have the details ?

Excitable boy racers (especially the older ones) fantasise about unlimited speeds on some sections of Autobahnen.

Excessive speeds are viewed with some disfavour.
