To the OP: If you've killed two of them then you are probably using the wrong tool. The price point for the mouse sander tells me that it is made down to a price rather than up to a standard. I've got to agree with Sammy that the trade-rated stuff is far and away better than DIY tools, but at a price
TBH if you can do without the pointy end and do a bit of hand sanding into corners Makita do a corking little 1/4 sheet sander, the
BO4555. At not much more than two and a half times the price of a Mouse it will last a lot longer (I have one,it's 12 or 13 years old, not sure, it's always in the tool box) - and it uses cheap off the roll sandpaper to boot. If you absolutely can't live without the pointy end then you'll maybe need to look at something like a Metabo DSE300 or a Bosch blue GOP 28-27 - either of which will run you roughly £100 and require much more expensive hook and loop papers. Te big plus of a multi-tool like the GOP, though, is that it can also cut stuff, so sometimes handy for all sorts of oddball repair tasks
Porter-Cable products are not available here in the UK (or AFAIK anywhere in the EU for that matter). In any case since Black & Decker bought P-C quality seems to have been driven down in much the same way that Bosch did the same to the Skil brand. Nearest you can get to
some P-C tools here is to look at the deWalt range
