Movies on tablets?

Hi guys,

Thinking of buying a tablet with a view to being able to download films onto it to take away on holiday - watching in the car etc... Do you know if a) this is possible and b) is it easy to do?

We have a LoveFilm account and we stream films online to watch but this doesn't seem to actually download the film to the laptop and therefore we can't transfer films to another device (ie a tablet) and watch it when we're not at home (or at least when we haven't got a Wi-Fi signal)?? If we can't do this then probable wont bother with a tablet....

They need to be converted to mp4 format,at least on the Nexus I have,there are a lot of films in google play which can be downloaded to the Nexus but these cost,prices vary,there are other options.
 
Don't think you can do anymore on a tablet than on your PC, as they would be afraid unscrupulous people would start selling the latest movies down the market?
But I'm not big into movies. so some of the other members will fill you in better. Will your current account let you download if you pay a bit extra?
 
Not sure about movies but the Iplayer app lets you download content onto an ipad for offline viewing.
 
I have a Nexus 7, I recently took a train from Preston to Glasgow.
To keep me occupied I watched Transformers, dark of the moon.

Excellent quality but you do need heaphones/amplification.

Does not just need MP4 as you can install other movie players that play AVI etc.
And if you put the movies on a memory stick/external drive you can access them through USB with an app (or root the nexus).
 
Lots of places to download movies for free, some legal, some no so. :wink:
A cheaper option is an in car screen, some real cheap types, will play straight from most memory sticks, or even digital picture frames, same playback as the in car types and can be hooked up to you tv on hols to give you your own video library while away.
