I have an MX5, lovely car, which I only use in the summer.
Is there a nice easy way of preserving the tyres during lay-up.
At the moment I'm inflating tyres to about 40 psi.
There's not much room to get around the car I'm afraid.

Get the wheels off the deck if you can, and protect them (to an extent) with a tyre black compound.....this does resist U/V deterioration to a degree.
Spinning the wheels from time to time may prevent brake bind too.
John :)

They are a bit high? I have seen bricks on the road with wheels gone.
You mean the thieves had no consideration for health and safety requirements? Disgraceful.

You're just an idiot looking for an argument with every post you make. Welcome to my ignore list.

Stands are not suitable for all ground conditions. Bad on asphalt, bad on uneven ground. They are also too high for just relieving pressure on tires. Digital platforms like bricks or planks allow easier incremental lift of the car, lowering risk of car tipping off. Bricks or similar is water resistant and more suitable for exterior. Stands also have smaller foot print and a greater risk of tipping over. Not saying they do tip over. I have them and don't like the look of them. Use them if they look good to you. I wouldn't put car on a column of single bricks. If I were to do it, I would want a column of 2 brick lengths by 2 brick lengths. Then a load spreader such as metal plate or wood plank on top. Big foot print usually involves more materials. If it fails, the car can't get through them all.

Or you could just use the product designed for supporting a car off it's wheel, ie Axle stands.

Do it properly.

Or I couldn't owing to inappropriate conditions. In any case I am happier to have my life in my own hands. You are welcome to have your choice. I am merely providing options.

I've always had garage queens and have not done anything but do try to drive it on a nice dry day all year round.
You just have to in my opinion, much better for it.
Nothing better than roof down on a crisp fine day.
