Just thought I would share my rather niche and oddball project making use of a large area in my home coupled with my home automation components along with my knowledge of web development.
What I effectively have done is allowed people all over the world to to control my very own Christmas decorations in real time what can then be seen back from a live webcam.
Essentially I have decorated a area in my home all up with Christmas lights/decorations and turned it into a fully Interactive Christmas Grotto for the public.
Now I classify it as niche for the reason that there only a few sites out there (including mine) what let's one control real things/items; simulations and non real life stuff don't count In my opinion.
For those who are interested in how it all works in detail; you can learn more here: http://manual.grottotree.com or you can visit the main website at: GrottoTree.com
Below are a few pics of my project.
