Had this Mountfield mower a few years. My friend said it was pumping out so many fumes that he thinks it's bad for your health, said it hurt his throat. He's also the guy who blew stuff in my direction (bit of an idiot). Could this mower be bad for my Health? Has head gasket gone? Whatever that is

Change the air filter, if its clogged up not enough air us getting in the mix making it too rich. Change the plug while you're at it. Sack your mate.

Blup

Maintain the exact oil level at all times.
If you need to get under the deck, tip the machine back on it's handles - not on the side.......oil spreads either into the air cleaner or the exhaust if you do.
John :)

I tipped mine on its side and petrol came out of the cap onto my lawn. Nothing has grown on that patch since.

The oil was way over the max level, a bloke I work for checked it. Unfortunately we tipped it on its side to drain loads out. It's on max level now. Not way over (as previously). Will it recover. Was this over filling of oil bad for lungs.

It was serviced in Jan, dunno what the guy was thinking

Check the air filter is clear/clean. Burning oil is no worse than stood at a bus stop with them idling and pouring out black smoke. If your okay now I doubt there will be any lasting damage but I am not a doctor ;)
