I went to a job today and next door are building a bungalow but have come to a stop. They have found a large iron pipe which no ones knows what it is.
The ground used to belong to the railway. Any ideas?

copy and paste works, but there are no pictures in your post.

What's your file type? .jpg ?

another method is to click "upload a file" and navigate to where you have stored it on your computer (not on the 'net).

Are you using a desktop, tablet, phone?

I have copied and pasted from my email, is there another way to post the pics?

Andy

I think you need to "save as" the pictures from your mail to your PC, then attach from there.

Has this worked? Can you see them now?

Andy

It could be anything from a gas main to a sewer.

If it dates from the time the railway operated on the land it could be a water pipe from a water tower to a watering station for filling steam locomotive water tanks.

Old photos of the area when the railway was there might provide some clue.

The postcode of the property is EN8 8UX, (shalcross Drive) it is at the end of the dead end.

Is there map for old water towers?

(Gas, water and council bods have being round and no one knows what it is.)

I did have a look for old photos of the area but could not find anything of use.

Does the pipe have any embossed markings that might provide information about manufacturer and/or use.

I does look similar to the gas mains that supply this village.
