Hi

Just a probably daft question but if I get a gas safe person to replace my boiler, do I need to notify the building control or is that part of gas safe itself?

Had asked installer and got a cryptic answer about the manufacturer doing it on our behalf but I think he must have misunderstood my question. Either way I'll be checking gas safe cert before work commences but want to be sure there is nothing else needed.

Thanks

Correct, the installer does it, he gets the cert and hands it to you and you may also get one in the post from the boiler manufacturer.

The installer may be correct in saying the manufacturer does the notification. We've just had a Vaillant installation by a Vaillant Advanced GSR, he notified Vaillant of the installation and Vaillant emailed us the Gas Safe Building regs certificate.
The email includes the words:
"This certificate confirms that the work recently undertaken at your property has been carried out by a Gas Safe registered business. The installing business has declared that the work complies with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations and meets the relevant buildings regulations.
It is a Government requirement for home owners in England, Wales and Isle of Man to notify their local authority building control of any relevant building work carried out at their property.
Your engineer has told Vaillant of your recent installation. As part of our agreement with Gas Safe Register they have notified your local authority building control on your behalf.".

Thank you helpless

Interesting. Thanks!

when the installer registers your boiler with the manufacturer then as part of that process the manufacturer will then register it with gas safe thus building control .
the installer does not have to do anything else as it is all done automatically

,
As per what helplessowner has indicated
