Hello!
We moved to a new house in the summer and have only needed to use the central heating the the past couple of weeks, but it seems to go on and off at strange times of the day and night.
As far as we can see all we have is a WR1 unit next to the boiler and a T4RF unit in the hallway which appears to set the temperature but not at particular times. We have the instructions for both and the ones for the WR1 unit also includes instructions for a programmable RC Plus unit. Does this mean that we should have this unit but it is somehow missing? If so is it possible to buy just this part or would we need to install an entire new system?

British Gas thermostats are usually rebadged Drayton products. So, I believe that you probably have a Drayton Digistat 3002 and an SCR.

If so, you are quite correct, in that this will only provide temperature control, not time control. You don't give any details of the heating system it is connected to, but if it includes a Combi boiler this thermostat would normally only be used where there is already a heating timeswitch built into the boiler. If there isn't any time control included with the boiler, then you should really have a programmable thermostat to provide both time and temperature control.

The SCR is just a receiver and can be paired with other Drayton RF products, so you could pair it with a programmable thermostat if required.

Or alternatively, it would be possible to wire in a separate timeswitch to the SCR and leave the thermostat as it is.
