It avoids the need for a resistive HT lead.

In racing circles, non resistor plugs actually give a slightly better spark which can help when the plugs are rated as cold.
In real life you wouldn’t notice any difference.
Cold plugs resist melting under racing conditions, hot plugs burn off combustion deposits better.
